Roll any number of dice.
About the Dice Roller
This calculator simulates rolling one or more multi-sided dice using a pseudorandom number generator. It displays the individual outcomes of each roll alongside the combined sum. Tabletop gamers, teachers, and probability students use it to quickly generate fair dice rolls without physical dice.
- Number of dice
- The quantity of dice to roll simultaneously, capped at 100 in the calculation.
- Sides
- The number of face values on each die (for example, 6 for a standard cube, 20 for a d20).
Formula and method
Single Roll = 1 + floor(random × s) Total = Σ (Single Rolls)
- sNumber of sides per die
- randomPseudorandom floating-point value in the half-open interval [0, 1)
- TotalArithmetic sum of all simulated dice rolls
Each die roll is simulated by generating a uniform random float between 0 and 1, multiplying by the number of sides, taking the floor, and adding 1 to yield an integer from 1 to s. The dice count is capped at 100. The individual rolls are displayed sequentially, and their values are summed to provide the total.
Worked example

Inputs
- Number of dice2
- Sides6
Results
- Rolls6, 4
- Total10
How to use the Dice Roller
- 1Enter the number of dice you want to roll (up to a maximum of 100).
- 2Specify the number of sides on each die (e.g., 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 20, or 100).
- 3Generate each roll as an integer between 1 and the specified side count.
- 4Sum all individual roll results to produce the final total.
Reading your result
The 'Rolls' output lists the exact integer value generated for each die in the order rolled. The 'Total' output shows the direct mathematical sum of those numbers. If you roll two 6-sided dice and see 'Rolls: 5, 4', the corresponding 'Total' will be 9.
Limitations
The calculator caps the maximum number of dice at 100 per roll regardless of a higher input value. It assumes all dice in a single roll share the same number of sides, meaning mixed-die pools (like a d6 plus a d20) must be rolled separately. It uses JavaScript's built-in pseudorandom generator, which is standard for recreational use but not cryptographically secure.

Calculations run in your browser. While signed in, inputs and results are automatically recorded in account history; saving a result creates a separate saved record.
