About the Text Reverser

The Text Reverser reverses the order of Unicode code points in your text, including letters, spaces, punctuation, and line breaks. It reverses the entire input rather than reversing only words or individual lines. With the default input, "Hello world. This is a sample.", it produces ".elpmas a si sihT .dlrow olleH".

Text
The text to reverse, defaulting to "Hello world. This is a sample.", is a sequence of Unicode code points with no physical units.

Formula and method

For input T = (c₁, c₂, …, cₙ), the reversed output is R = (cₙ, cₙ₋₁, …, c₁), so Rᵢ = cₙ₊₁₋ᵢ for i = 1, …, n. For T = "Hello world. This is a sample.", R = ".elpmas a si sihT .dlrow olleH".
  • TThe input text represented as an ordered sequence of Unicode code points.
  • cᵢThe Unicode code point at position i in the input.
  • nThe total number of Unicode code points in the input.
  • iA position in the sequence, counted from the beginning.
  • RThe output text formed by joining the input code points in reverse order.
  • RᵢThe code point at position i in the reversed output.

Read the input as Unicode code points, traverse that sequence from the last code point to the first, and join the result into text. Preserve each code point exactly; do not change case, remove spaces, or perform Unicode normalization. An empty input produces an empty output.

Inputs

  • TextHello world. This is a sample.

Results

  • Reversed text.elpmas a si sihT .dlrow olleH

How to use the Text Reverser

  1. 1Enter or paste the content into the Text input.
  2. 2For the worked example, keep the default text exactly as "Hello world. This is a sample.".
  3. 3Run the reversal to reorder all Unicode code points from last to first.
  4. 4Read the Reversed text output; for the default input, it is ".elpmas a si sihT .dlrow olleH".
  5. 5Copy the result if needed, checking any combining marks, emoji sequences, or multiline content for display changes.

Reading your result

The single output row, Reversed text, contains the input code points in reverse order. In the default result, ".elpmas a si sihT .dlrow olleH", the final period of the input appears first and the initial H appears last. Spaces and punctuation move with the reversal; they are not discarded or treated as word boundaries.

Limitations

Code points are not always the same as user-perceived characters. Combining marks, flags, emoji modifiers, and joined emoji sequences can contain multiple code points, so reversing them may disrupt their appearance. A single supplementary Unicode code point remains intact, but a multi-code-point grapheme cluster is not preserved as a unit. Line-break code points also reverse, including the order within a CRLF pair. Bidirectional text may display in an order that differs from its underlying code-point sequence. This tool does not mirror letter shapes, translate text, or encrypt it.

Common questions

Does Text Reverser reverse words or the entire text?+

It reverses the entire code-point sequence. The default input "Hello world. This is a sample." becomes ".elpmas a si sihT .dlrow olleH", not merely the same words in reverse order.

Why can an accented letter or emoji look different after reversal?+

Some visible characters consist of multiple code points. Reversal changes the order of combining marks, emoji modifiers, and joining characters, which can break their original visual grouping.

Will reversing the result again restore the original text?+

Yes, provided the intermediate text retains exactly the same code points. Reversing twice restores their original order; copying through software that normalizes text or changes line endings can interfere with this.

What happens to spaces, punctuation, and line breaks?+

They are reversed along with every other code point. Spaces are preserved, punctuation moves to its reversed position, and multiline input is reversed as one sequence rather than line by line.

Does the calculator save my information?+

Calculations run in your browser. While signed in, inputs and results are automatically recorded in account history; saving a result creates a separate saved record.
