About the Monthly Recurring Revenue Calculator

The Monthly Recurring Revenue Calculator combines subscription revenue from Basic and Premium pricing tiers to calculate monthly recurring revenue (MRR). It also multiplies that monthly total by 12 to show an annualized recurring revenue run-rate. Use it to estimate recurring revenue from your current subscriber counts and monthly tier prices.

Basic subscribers (subscribers)
The number of active paying subscriptions in the Basic tier, measured in subscribers and defaulting to 300.
Basic monthly price ($)
The recurring monthly charge per Basic subscriber, measured in dollars per subscriber per month and defaulting to $20.
Premium subscribers (subscribers)
The number of active paying subscriptions in the Premium tier, measured in subscribers and defaulting to 100.
Premium monthly price ($)
The recurring monthly charge per Premium subscriber, measured in dollars per subscriber per month and defaulting to $60.

Formula and method

MRR = (N_B × P_B) + (N_P × P_P); ARR = MRR × 12. With the default inputs: MRR = (300 × $20) + (100 × $60) = $12,000.00; ARR = $12,000.00 × 12 = $144,000.00.
  • N_BNumber of Basic subscribers.
  • P_BBasic monthly price in dollars per subscriber.
  • N_PNumber of Premium subscribers.
  • P_PPremium monthly price in dollars per subscriber.
  • MRRCombined monthly recurring revenue from both tiers, in dollars per month.
  • ARRAnnualized recurring revenue run-rate, in dollars per year, calculated as MRR multiplied by 12.

Multiply each tier's subscriber count by its monthly price, then add the two tier totals to calculate MRR. Multiply MRR by 12 to annualize the current monthly run-rate. With 300 Basic subscribers at $20 and 100 Premium subscribers at $60, each tier contributes $6,000.00 per month, producing $12,000.00 in MRR and $144,000.00 in annualized recurring revenue.

  3. 3Enter the number of active paying Premium subscribers; the default is 100.
  4. 4Enter the Premium monthly price per subscriber; the default is $60.

Reading your result

The Monthly recurring revenue row shows the combined recurring subscription revenue for one month across Basic and Premium subscribers; the default result is $12,000.00. The Annualized recurring revenue row shows what that monthly revenue would amount to over 12 months if subscriber counts and prices stayed unchanged; the default result is $144,000.00. Neither output represents profit or guarantees future collections.

Limitations

This calculator assumes all entered subscribers pay the entered monthly price for their tier for a full month. It does not independently account for discounts, free trials, churn, new subscriptions, upgrades, downgrades, prorated charges, refunds, failed payments, taxes, or one-time fees. Annualized recurring revenue is a snapshot run-rate, not a forecast or a measure of revenue already earned. Costs and payment-processing fees are not deducted. Use nonnegative subscriber counts and prices, and convert nonmonthly subscription prices to monthly equivalents before entering them.

Common questions

Why do Basic and Premium contribute the same MRR with the default inputs?+

Basic contributes 300 × $20 = $6,000.00 per month, while Premium contributes 100 × $60 = $6,000.00 per month. Adding those contributions gives total MRR of $12,000.00.

Does the $144,000.00 annualized result mean that revenue has already been earned?+

No. It is the $12,000.00 monthly recurring revenue multiplied by 12. It describes the annual run-rate at the current subscriber counts and prices, not revenue already earned or guaranteed future revenue.

Can I include annually billed Basic or Premium subscriptions?+

Yes, if you convert each tier's annual recurring price to a monthly equivalent by dividing it by 12. Enter that monthly equivalent rather than the full annual charge; the result measures recurring run-rate, not the timing of cash receipts.

What if subscribers within the same tier pay different prices?+

A single listed price will not capture those differences. For a current snapshot, use the tier's total monthly recurring charges divided by its paying subscriber count as an effective average monthly price, excluding one-time charges and taxes. The calculator has no separate fields for discounts or additional price groups.

Does the calculator save my information?+

Calculations run in your browser. While signed in, inputs and results are automatically recorded in account history; saving a result creates a separate saved record.
