About the Salary Calculator
This calculator converts wage and salary figures across common pay frequencies, including hourly, daily, weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly, and annual rates. It also estimates time-off adjusted earnings to show the effective income when unpaid holidays and vacation days reduce total working time. Job seekers, employees evaluating job offers, and contractors use this tool to compare compensation structures directly.
- Pay amount
- The monetary value of your compensation at the selected pay interval, specified in dollars.
- Per
- The pay period frequency corresponding to the pay amount, chosen from Hour, Day, Week, Month, or Year.
- Hours per week
- The number of hours worked in a standard workweek, typically between 1 and 80 (default is 40).
- Days per week
- The number of days worked in a standard week, typically between 1 and 7 (default is 5).
- Holidays per year
- The total number of recognized holiday days off per year (default is 10).
- Vacation days per year
- The total number of vacation or personal days taken per year (default is 15).
Formula and method
Annual Base (yr) = Pay × Multiplier Total Work Days (work) = 52 × DaysPerWeek Annual Adjusted (adj) = yr × (work − Holidays − Vacation) / work Hourly Rate = yr / (52 × HoursPerWeek) Daily Rate = yr / work Weekly Rate = yr / 52 Bi-weekly Rate = yr / 26 Semi-monthly Rate = yr / 24 Monthly Rate = yr / 12 Quarterly Rate = yr / 4 Adjusted Hourly = adj / (52 × HoursPerWeek) Adjusted Monthly = adj / 12
- yrGross unadjusted annual pay in dollars
- adjGross annual pay adjusted for unpaid time off in dollars
- workBaseline working days in a year (52 weeks × days worked per week)
- MultiplierConversion factor based on pay frequency: 52 × HoursPerWeek (Hour), work (Day), 52 (Week), 12 (Month), or 1 (Year)
The tool assumes exactly 52 weeks in a calendar year to compute annual base pay from the selected frequency. It calculates total annual working days as 52 times the days per week, and scales pay downward by the fraction of working days lost to holidays and vacation. All breakdown values are formatted to two decimal places.

How to use the Salary Calculator
- 1Multiply the pay amount by its frequency multiplier (52 × hours/week for hourly, 52 × days/week for daily, 52 for weekly, 12 for monthly, or 1 for annual) to establish the standard annual pay.
- 2Divide the standard annual pay across each standard pay schedule (e.g., dividing by 52 for weekly, 26 for bi-weekly, 24 for semi-monthly, and 12 for monthly).
- 3Calculate adjusted annual pay by multiplying standard annual pay by the proportion of remaining workdays after subtracting holidays and vacation days from total baseline workdays.
- 4Compute the time-off adjusted hourly, monthly, and annual amounts using the adjusted annual earnings.
Reading your result
The unadjusted outputs represent standard full-year earnings assuming paid leave or an salaried contract where base pay remains constant regardless of days off. The time-off adjusted metrics reflect net earnings if holidays and vacation days represent unpaid time off, such as for independent contractors or hourly workers without paid leave.
Limitations
The calculation does not account for payroll taxes, income tax withholdings, retirement contributions, or overtime pay rules. It assumes a fixed 52-week year (364 days), ignoring leap years or the extra day in standard 365-day calendar years. It also assumes that holiday and vacation days represent unpaid time off rather than paid leave.
Common questions
What is the difference between bi-weekly and semi-monthly pay?+
Bi-weekly pay occurs every two weeks, resulting in 26 paychecks per year. Semi-monthly pay occurs twice per month (typically on the 1st and 15th), resulting in 24 paychecks per year.
Does this calculation assume paid or unpaid time off?+
The primary figures represent standard compensation (such as paid salary or guaranteed hours), while the 'time-off adjusted' figures calculate earnings assuming those holiday and vacation days are completely unpaid.
Why does the calculation use 52 weeks instead of 365 days?+
Standard payroll cycles are structured around weekly intervals (52 weeks or 2,080 hours for a 40-hour workweek). Dividing the year into 52 weeks is the standard corporate convention for payroll conversions.
