About the Days Until Next Birthday
The Days Until Next Birthday calculator counts the calendar days remaining until your next birthday using your date of birth and the current date. It also shows the date and weekday of that birthday and the age you will turn. For the default birth date of 1990-06-15, the worked example uses October 23, 2026 as today and returns 235 days until Tuesday, June 15, 2027, when you will turn 37.

C = date(year(T), month(B), day(B)); N = C if C ≥ T, otherwise date(year(T) + 1, month(B), day(B)); D = ordinal(N) − ordinal(T); A = year(N) − year(B). For B = 1990-06-15 and T = 2026-10-23: N = 2027-06-15, D = 235 days, and A = 2027 − 1990 = 37.

Read the date of birth and today's date, then construct this year's birthday from the birth month and day. If that date has already passed, select the birthday in the following year. Subtract today's calendar-day number from the selected birthday's calendar-day number, format the birthday with its weekday, and subtract the birth year from the selected birthday year to find the turning age. February 29 birthdays require a separate non-leap-year rule.

Reading your result
Days until birthday is the calendar-date difference, not an inclusive count of both today and the birthday. Next birthday identifies the upcoming occurrence of your birth month and day, including its weekday. Turning age is your age on that birthday, not necessarily your current age. With the default date of birth and October 23, 2026 as today, the output rows are Days until birthday = 235; Next birthday = Tue, June 15, 2027; Turning age = 37.
Limitations
The countdown changes with today's date, so the worked example is a dated snapshot rather than a permanent result for the default input. Results assume the Gregorian calendar and a valid date of birth that is not in the future. The time zone used to determine today can affect the result near midnight. This is a calendar-day countdown, not a count of exact 24-hour periods, and it does not use your time of birth. The formula treats a birthday occurring today as zero days away. For February 29 births, the calculator must define whether February 28 or March 1 is used in non-leap years; that behavior is not specified here.
Common questions
Why does the default birth date show 235 days until the next birthday?+
The worked example uses October 23, 2026 as today. June 15 has already passed that year, so the next birthday is June 15, 2027, which is 235 calendar days later.
Does Turning age mean my age right now?+
No. It is the age you will reach on the displayed next birthday. For a birth date of 1990-06-15 and a next birthday of June 15, 2027, the turning age is 37.
What happens if today is my birthday?+
Under the stated formula, today's birthday is selected, Days until birthday is zero, and Turning age is the age you reach today.
How are February 29 birthdays handled?+
February 29 is used when the relevant year is a leap year. In other years, a February 28 or March 1 convention is needed. Because the calculator's non-leap-year convention is not specified here, check its displayed next birthday before relying on the countdown.
