About the Age in Days
The Age in Days calculator converts your date of birth into the number of calendar days you have been alive, along with weeks, approximate hours and approximate years. It compares your birth date with the current date, so the results change as days pass.
- Date of birth
- Your birth date, entered as a calendar date in YYYY-MM-DD format, with a default of 1990-06-15.
Formula and method
D = calendarDaysBetween(B, T); W = D / 7; H = D × 24; Y ≈ D / 365.25. In the worked example: D = 13,279; W = 13,279 / 7 = 1,897; H = 13,279 × 24 = 318,696; Y ≈ 13,279 / 365.25 = 36.36 when rounded to two decimal places.
- BDate of birth.
- TCurrent calendar date used as the calculation endpoint.
- DElapsed calendar days between the birth date and the current date.
- WElapsed days expressed in weeks, using seven days per week.
- HApproximate hours alive, using 24 hours per calendar day.
- YApproximate years alive, using an average year length of 365.25 days.
Find the calendar-date difference between the date of birth and the current date, including any leap days within that interval. Treat the birth date as day zero rather than counting both endpoints inclusively. Divide the resulting day count by 7 for weeks, multiply it by 24 for approximate hours, and divide it by 365.25 for approximate years. Round approximate years to two decimal places.

How to use the Age in Days
- 1Enter your date of birth, or leave the default date of 1990-06-15.
- 2Check that the year, month and day match your birth date.
- 3Run the calculation using the current date as the endpoint.
- 4Read the Days alive and Weeks rows to see your age in days and seven-day units.
- 5Read Hours (approx.) and Approximate years as conversions of the day count, not exact birth-time measurements.
Reading your result
For the supplied worked example with Date of birth set to 1990-06-15, Days alive = 13,279 means that 13,279 calendar days have elapsed. Weeks = 1,897 expresses that same interval in seven-day units. Hours (approx.) = 318,696 assumes 24 hours for every counted day. Approximate years = 36.36 expresses the interval using 365.25 days per year; it is not a completed-birthday age. These example results are a snapshot and will change when the calculation date changes.
Limitations
The calculator accepts a date, not a birth time or birth timezone, so it cannot measure your exact age in elapsed hours. Calendar-day counting includes leap days, but multiplying by 24 does not account for daylight-saving changes or other clock adjustments. The current date may depend on the timezone used by the calculator. Approximate years use a fixed average rather than actual birthday intervals, and a date of birth later than the current date is not valid for an age-alive calculation.
Common questions
Does the Age in Days calculator count my birthday as day one?+
No. It measures elapsed calendar days, so the birth date is day zero. This avoids adding an extra day by counting both the starting and ending dates inclusively.
Are leap days included in my days alive?+
Yes. Any February 29 within the elapsed interval is included in the calendar-day difference. The 365.25-day assumption is used only to convert that total into approximate years.
Why are my hours alive labeled approximate?+
The calculator multiplies whole calendar days by 24 without knowing your birth time. In the worked example, 13,279 × 24 gives 318,696 hours, but that is not an exact timestamp-to-timestamp duration.
Why might the default birth date no longer show 13,279 days?+
The calculation uses the current date. The supplied result of 13,279 days is a snapshot for 1990-06-15, not a permanent result for that birth date.
Does the calculator save my information?+
Calculations run in your browser. While signed in, inputs and results are automatically recorded in account history; saving a result creates a separate saved record.
