About the Add Days to a Date
The Add Days to a Date calculator finds the calendar date a specified number of days after or before a starting date. Enter a positive number to move forward or a negative number to move backward, including weekends and holidays. With the default start date of 2026-10-23 and 30 days to add, the resulting date is Sun, November 22, 2026.
- Start date
- The starting calendar date, entered as year-month-day, defaults to 2026-10-23.
- Days to add (negative to subtract)
- The signed number of calendar days to shift from the start date defaults to 30; negative values subtract days.
Formula and method
D_result = D_start + n calendar days; with D_start = 2026-10-23 and n = 30, D_result = 2026-11-22.
- D_resultThe resulting calendar date after applying the day offset.
- D_startThe starting calendar date.
- nThe signed whole-number offset in calendar days: positive to add and negative to subtract.
Treat the start date as day zero and shift it by the requested number of calendar days using Gregorian calendar rules. Advance or retreat through month and year boundaries, accounting for month lengths and leap years. For the default inputs, 8 days take the date from October 23 to October 31, and the remaining 22 days reach November 22, 2026. Determine the weekday for that date and display it in readable and ISO formats.

Reading your result
The Resulting date row shows the weekday, full month name, day, and year: Sun, November 22, 2026. The ISO format row shows the same date as YYYY-MM-DD: 2026-11-22. These are two representations of one result, not separate dates.
Limitations
This calculation uses Gregorian calendar days, not business days, and does not exclude weekends or public holidays. It assumes a valid starting date and a whole-number day offset. The start date is day zero rather than the first counted day. This is date-only arithmetic: it does not calculate elapsed hours or apply time-zone and daylight-saving adjustments. Legal, billing, or contractual deadlines may use different counting rules.
Common questions
Does adding 30 days count the start date as the first day?+
No. The start date is day zero, and counting begins on the following calendar date. Starting at 2026-10-23 and adding 30 days gives 2026-11-22.
Does this calculator skip weekends or holidays?+
No. Every calendar day counts. The default result falls on Sunday, November 22, 2026, and is not moved to a weekday.
How do I find a date before the start date?+
Enter a negative whole number in Days to add (negative to subtract). The calculator moves backward by that many calendar days, crossing month or year boundaries as needed.
Is adding 30 days the same as adding a month?+
No. A month can contain different numbers of days, while a 30-day offset always counts exactly 30 calendar days. For the default start date of October 23, 2026, adding 30 days reaches November 22, 2026.
Does the calculator save my information?+
Calculations run in your browser. While signed in, inputs and results are automatically recorded in account history; saving a result creates a separate saved record.
